Larry A. Holz

Larry A. Holz, 78, of rural Waupun, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2023 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.

Larry was born March 17, 1945 in Fond du Lac, the son of Arthur and Marion Geisthardt Holz, Jr. Larry attended Oakfield schools, and graduated from Oakfield HIgh School in 1963. On June 7, 1969 Larry married Charmaine “Char” Holz at the Church of Peace in Fond du lac. Following their marriage the couple resided in the Waupun area most of their married lives. Larry worked at the shoe factory in Waupun for 8 years and then moved on to Mercury Marine for 34 years until he retired in 2009. Larry was a huge sports fan, mainly his Brewers and Packers, but he was even a bigger fan of watching his kids and grandkids play sports! Whether it was bowling, baseball, hockey, or softball he would travel all over this country to watch them play. Larry was an avid bowler. He loved being outside and taking pride in the lawn and flowers. He loved traveling with the family. Larry was a member of Pella Lutheran Church in Waupun where he served as an elder and on other committees. 

Larry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Charmaine “Char” Holz of Waupun: two sons: Michael (Melissa) Holz of Malone and Daniel (Jennifer) Holz of Waupun; grandchildren: Trenton (special friend, Sophia), Katelyn, Mason, and Raegan; brothers: Lynn Holz of Waupun and Gerald (Helen) Holz of Waupun; and nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Marion Holz; a nephew, Jay Holz; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Doris and Edwin Klebes.

Funeral services for Larry A. Holz will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 11 a.m. Pella Lutheran Church in Waupun with Pastor David Knuth officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Center Cemetery in the town of Oakfield. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Wednesday at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 4-7 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
