Leona H. Hass
Leona Helen
Hass, age 93, passed away October 21, 2017 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du
Lac. She was born November 13, 1923 in Fond du Lac, a daughter of Anton and
Mary (Donnabauer) Muellenbach. Leona graduated from Fond du Lac High School in
1942. She worked at the telephone office in Fond du Lac until Leona was united
in marriage to Gordon T. Hass on Jun 10, 1944 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Leona and
Gordon engaged in farming in Byron until 1951 when they purchased a farm in
Eden, which they operated in 1981 when they retired and moved to Fond du Lac.
Leona enjoyed socializing with family and friends, card playing, music and
dancing, daily walks, flower gardening and bird watching. She was a member of
Holy Family Parish.
Leona is
survived by two sons Wayne A. (Kathleen) Hass of Eden and Edward L. (Kathleen)
Hass of Ellsworth, WI; four grandchildren Brenda (Jeff) Gudex, Renee (Chris)
Demos, Tricia (Reid) Fauska all of Fond du Lac, and Anthony (Tony) Hass of
Hartford, WI; great grandchildren Alex, Austin and Ella Demos, Clara and
Griffin Gudex, Finnian, Sailer and Lyrik Fauska. She is also survived by
Gordon’s sisters-in-law Leota (Leonard) Hass and Mary (Bob) Hass, other
relatives and many friends.
Leona was
preceded in death by her husband of 62 ½ years, Gordon, her son Francis “Frank”
and his wife, Clara, her parents, her sisters and brothers-in-law Alice (John) Costello
and Angeline (Gilbert) Fischer, twin brother Leo and sister-in-law Fern
Muellenbach.
Visitation:
Leona’s family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, October 25, 2017
at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, E. Merrill Ave., Fond du Lac, from 10:00 AM to 11:45
AM.
Service: A
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following visitation at the church
at 12:00 PM. Entombment will be in Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum at
Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of
flowers, memorials are preferred in Leona’s name and will be given to several
philanthropic organizations important to her.
A special thank you to neighbors and
friends who provided companionship, transportation and compassion, and the
caregivers at 4 and 5 South, the emergency room and Dr. Petrinska – the family
was blessed to have a touching and positive experience with everyone at St.
Agnes.
