LeRoy Bierne
LeRoy Bierne, 82, of Fond du Lac died peacefully Wednesday July 13, 2016 at his home. He was born April 27, 1934 in Oakfield, the son of Russell and Thelma (Jagfeld) Ryan. He grew up in Oakfield and graduated from Oakfield Highschool. LeRoy served in the US Army from 1954-1956 and was stationed in Germany. On October 12, 1957, LeRoy married Mary J. Lanser at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Fond du Lac.
Leroy was a salsperson at Sears for 37 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree and served as Grand Knight in 1974 and later as District Deputy. He was a member of Holy Family Parish and served as head usher at St. Josephs Church for many years. An avid sportsman, LeRoy enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially with his nephews Kory & Kyle Volbright & Kelly, Leslie and Russ Ryan and good friend Jim Knowles. He was a member of the Brownsville Sportsmen Club and various snowmobile clubs. After retirement he enjoyed wood carving; ducks and birds were his specialty. LeRoy was a Packer season ticket holder since 1957 and was a dedicated Packer, Bucks, Badger and Brewer fan and devotedly followed the local highschool teams.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, daughter Cindy (Joe) Twohig of Fond du Lac, granddaughter Theresa (Tony) Wendt of Fond du Lac and great-grandson Ryan, brother Thomas (Dulsie) Ryan of Montana, sister Patricia Volbright of Fond du Lac, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Tony and Rita Lanser and his brother-in-law Davd Volbright.
Visitation will be Friday July 15th from 4 to 7 PM at the Twohig Funeral Home, 305 Fond du Lac Ave., Fond du Lac and on Sat. July 16th from 9:30 AM until time of Mass at Holy Family Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 200 S. Peters Avenue, Fond du Lac.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Sat. July 16th at 10:30 AM at Holy Family Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Fond du Lac. Online guestbook and condolences are at www.twohigfunerals.com
