Linda “Lyn” Kay (McCarthy) Jaye
Linda “Lyn” Kay (McCarthy) Jaye, passed away February 2, 2024, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center.
Lyn was born July 6, 1948 in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Kathryn Curran and Donald McCarthy. A 1966 graduate of St. Mary’s Springs Academy, she furthered her education in accounting at MPTC.
Lyn’s career path led her to working for several area and out of state employers, spending the bulk of her accounting career with Stock Lumber Company in Fond du Lac. She had a real affinity for numbers, math, accounting, and budgeting. Due to health concerns, Lyn ultimately retired early. Lyn had met the love of her life, her soulmate and constant companion Jerry through the skillful engineering of their daughters, and they were married in September of 1985. They joyfully shared 38 ½ years celebrating life together. Their devotion to each other was unparalleled and their enduring bond a testament to the power of love and commitment.
Besides family and friends, Lyn loved her gardening activities both at home and helping relatives and friends with theirs. (Weeds did not stand a chance!) She also enjoyed cooking for family gatherings and canning the fruits of her garden.
Survivors include Lyn’s adoring husband Jerry and her loving daughters Ginger (Chris) Hoover and Becki (Ed) Skeels, 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She is further survived by her four younger sisters including Yvonne Bohan of Tucson, AZ.; Mary Curtis of Neenah; Christa (Tim) Wonser of Oshkosh, and Bev (Scott) Vossekuil of Van Dyne; and three step siblings: Brad (Bonnie) Curran of Oshkosh, Brian (Vonal) Curran of Oakfield and Mickey Janelli of Oceanside CA. Also surviving are her uncle Ken (Ann) Lohry of Oshkosh, an aunt Nadine (Hilary) Krueger of Bentonville AR., as well as many nieces and nephews and other relatives all of whom she cherished. Finally, Lyn is survived by innumerable friends with whom she loved spending time and conversation, folks that will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathryn (Eugene – who Lyn called Dad) Curran, her father, Donald McCarthy; her loving parents-in-law Jerome and Jeanette (Bachhuber) Jaye; many aunts, uncles and other relatives.
VISITATION will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Holy Family Catholic Community, 271 Fourth Street Way, from 8:30am to 11:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Inurnment will take place at Calvary Cemetery – Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum.
Over a decade ago, when Lyn was preparing paperwork and information for her future funeral plans she wrote the following which she wanted her friends and family to know: “I love you all. I can’t miss you as I’ll be busy watching over all of you. Do not grieve as I am no longer suffering and am with God in Heaven, having fun with other heavenly family and friends. This last move for me was the easiest move……no heavy boxes. HA HA”
That was our Lyn……always thinking of others and always ready with a touch of humor. You will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure and honor of knowing and loving you.
