Lois A. Linde

Lois A. Linde, age 93, died Monday, November 4, 2024. She was born in Van Dyne, WI, to Henry and Sadie Scheller on April 10, 1931. She was raised in Van Dyne until 1945, when the family moved to Sugar Bush. She graduated from New London High School in 1948. Growing up, she was very active in 4-H for 10 years and became a Junior leader representing Waupaca County in the 4-H National Congress held in Chicago for a week. Lois was one of seven children, each of whom played an instrument in high school. They formed their own band and played weekends in surrounding areas. Lois taught herself to play piano and the accordion. She also played string bass in high school.

In 1949, she moved to Fond du Lac so she could attend vocational school where she met Wayne Linde. They were married in 1953 at St. Patrick’s Church after Wayne got out of the Service. Lois worked at Giddings & Lewis for 11 years from 1949-1960. Raising five children, she was a stay at home mom and operated a Drain Guard business with her husband. She worked as a crossing guard from 1974-1978 and at Nazareth Heights from 1978-1990. After retiring, Lois was an election inspector for the Township of Black Wolf. Lois was a member of Holy Family Parish. She loved to sing and was active at St. Mary’s Sunday and Hope choirs as well as forming a small band with some of her grandchildren.

She is survived by her five children, Debbie (Bruce) Weber, Cathy (Matt) Jacobson, Karen (Buck) Rogers, Sandy (Scott) Mateyka, and Chuck (Jessica) Linde; twelve grandchildren; Vanessa (Jared) Parduhn, Jenny (Casey) Wollert, Lauren (Luke) Doescher, Meredith (Elliot) Pieper, April (Cameron) Clements, Joline Thayer, Jordan (Taylor) Thayer, Gunnar Rogers, Brenna Rogers, Tanner Rogers, Lindy (John) Griffin, Zachary Mateyka; two sisters, Rae Mona Preece and Joy Freeman; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne in 2010; two brothers, Henry (Dorothy) Scheller and Grant (Gladys) Scheller; three sisters, infant sister, Greta, Grace Williams, and June LeFeber. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Doug Thayer; and infant grandchild, Amber Thayer.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 705 Michigan Ave, North Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at the church at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow the service at Calvary Cemetery.
