Lois Jean (Knudsen) Wingert
Lois Jean (Knudsen) Wingert, 80, of Malone, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026 surrounded by her loving family in the comfort of her own home. Born on September 3, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois to Marius and Marjorie Knudsen. Lois grew up in the Irving Park neighborhood of Chicago and graduated from St. Gregory’s High School as valedictorian of her class.
On June 22, 1968 she married Russ Wingert and together they built a life and raised three sons in Chicago, Des Plaines, and Mount Prospect, Illinois, and finally retired to Malone, Wisconsin.
Lois loved playing cards with her family and friends, relaxing at her lakeside cottage, crocheting, any and all puzzles and trivia, and galavanting with her sisters at MAW. Above all, Lois cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Lois will be remembered for her kind spirit and generosity. Her home was always open and filled with love and laughter. She will be deeply missed by her family, many friends, and all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Russ Wingert; their sons, Russ, Ken, and Mike; daughters-in-law, Jenny and Sara; grandchildren, Jake and Sarah, Tyler, Tommy, and Melanie; siblings, Kay and Jim (Rest in Peace March 23, 2026), Nancy, Bill and Michelle, Jean, and Mary, as well as a long list of loved cousins, nieces, nephews, and an abundance of friends. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Marius and Margie, as well as her two beloved brothers-in-law, Scott and George. She will be forever loved and remembered.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, Friday April 24, 2026, at St. Mary Church, 59 East Merrill Avenue in Fond du Lac. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will follow, beginning at 11:00 AM. Cremation has taken place.
