Lucille “Cile” H. O’Neil
Lucille “Cile” H. O’Neil, 91, formerly of Eldorado and Rosendale area, died peacefully and surrounded by family, on Monday, April 28, 2014. Her later years, she resided at the Willowbrook Apartments in Ripon and most recently at the Patriot Place in Berlin.
She was born on September 3, 1922, in the Town of Eldorado, the daughter of Edward C. and Hazel A. Henke Manzke. She graduated from Rosendale Union Free High School in 1940, where she was active in many things. She did housework in order to stay in school.
On June 18, 1941, she married Arlyn D. O’Neil at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Eldorado. They were married 58 years at the time of Arlyn’s death in 1999.
Lucille worked at Rosendale Shopping Center for 35 years. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, Rogersville, where she taught Sunday school while her girls were growing up, and was a member of E.L.C.A. She helped at the Eldorado Fireman’s picnic for many years, and was an avid oil painter of scenery and flowers, and she loved to play cards. One of her favorite sayings at family gatherings was, “Look what I started!”
She is survived by three daughters: Jean, Joanne, and Barbara. Jean (Thomas) White of North Fond du Lac, and their children: Phil White, Bill (Kim) White, and Becky (John) Perreault; Joanne (Michael) Simon of Berlin, and their children: Michele Simon (Tim), Angie (Greg) Fralish, and Matt (Ann) Simon; Barbara (Joe) Harrington of Appleton, and their children: Kim (Ryan) Mueller and David (Tina) Konow; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is further survived by two sisters-in-law: Mildred O’Neil and Rosalie Manzke Patt; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arlyn, on May 3, 1999; a brother, Lyle Manzke; a sister, Ruth (Arvid) White; a grandson, Christopher Simon; many brothers and sisters-in-law; two nephews; and dear friends.
The visitation will be on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, N5680 Towne Road, Rogersville, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, with Rev. Kimberly Stowell officiating. Burial will be in Rosendale Cemetery followed by a celebration of Lucille’s life at St. Stephen’s fellowship hall.
