Mae “Delores” Petrie

Mae “Delores” Petrie, 95, of St. Peter, passed away on August 5, 2025 at St. Agnes Hospital surrounded by family. She was born January 5, 1930 in St. Joe to Leo and Katherine (Morgan) Steffes.

On May 9, 1951 she married Elmer Petrie at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joe.

Delores was a 1948 graduate of New Holstein High School. She was a telephone operator until her marriage to Elmer. After she and Elmer married, she went to work on the family dairy farm.

Delores was a member of Holy Family Parish at St. Peter Church where she was a member of the Christian Mothers Altar and Rosary Society.

She loved farming and sewing, as well as painting and seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren. To them, she was Granny.

Delores will be missed by two sons, Daniel and John (Irene) all of St. Peter; daughter-n-law, Rosie (David) Kreisman of Mt. Calvary; seven grandchildren, Michael (Katie) Petrie, Shelly (Mike) Weber, Andy (Marie) Petrie, Rebecca (Torrin) Santy, Jennifer (Christopher) Pirrello, Steven (Jada) Petrie and Kelly (Justin) Morgan; seventeen great grandchildren, Bridger and Ember Petrie, Lucas, Ava, and Hailey Petrie, Brylee and Declan Santy, Leo, Henry, and Vera Pirrello, Mason, Carson, Easton, and Addison Petrie, Lincoln, Tripp, and Ryelle Morgan; siblings Pat Birschbach, Judy Zingsheim, Joe (Rae Marie) Steffes; sisters-in-law Joan Steffes and Gail Steffes; special family friend Gene Burg; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Delores was preceded in death by her husband Elmer; her parents; one son Robert “Bob”; one grandson, Todd Petrie; siblings Eugene (Donna) Steffes, Donald Steffes, Sylvan Steffes, Mary Ann (Gene) Birschbach, and Vern Steffes; in-laws Henry Birschbach, Ed Zingsheim, Clarence (Anita) Petrie, Edna (Jim) Dougherty, Mary Ann (Vern) Thielmann and Mary Ann’s second husband Bob Williams.

SERVICES: Delores’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division St., Fond du Lac, WI on Sunday, August 10, 2025 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday, August 11, 2025 at St. Peter Catholic Church from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following the visitation at 11:00 AM. Following Mass, burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery.
