Margaret F. “Marge” Schmitz

Margaret F. “Marge” Schmitz, 88, of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2023 at St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. She was born August 24, 1934 to Alphonse and Marceline (Stommel) Gallitz. She graduated from Rosendale High School.

Marge worked for many years at Petri Insurance as a secretary and enjoyed retirement working at Silica Gardens. She loved flowers and gardening along with needlepoint, sewing, and travel.

Marge was united in marriage to Orlando Schmitz on June 23, 1973, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Woodhull.

Marge is survived by six stepchildren Thomas, Raymond & Cathie, Mary & Tom Leonard, Gerald & Carol, Geralyn & John Woicek, Karen & Dave Buechel; 14 step-grandchildren; 17 step-great grandchildren; sisters Joan Giebel, Sr. Helen Gallitz, and Ann & Dan Barefoot; sister-in-law Rita Gallitz; brothers and sisters-in-law Elmer, Gerald & Bernice, Lillian; as well as other relatives and friends.

Marge was preceded in death by her husband Orlando, brother John, sister Marcie & Ken Sippel, brothers and sisters-in-law Dave Giebel, Clarence & Elfriedea Schmitz, Louis Schmitz, Jerome & Joan Schmitz, Julitta Schmitz; and two step-grandchildren.

Marge’s family invites friends and relatives to a time of visitation on Friday, September 1, 2023 at St. Francis Home Chapel at 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 2:00 PM.
