Mary C. Becker
Mary C.
Becker, 101, of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2017, at
the St. Francis Home.
She was born
on September 16, 1916 in Fond du Lac, a daughter of the late James Edward and
Josephine Flynn Callahan.
Mary was
educated in the public schools and was a 1934 graduate of the Fond du Lac
Senior High School.
She was
employed for several years as an officer of the First Federal Savings and Loan
Association.
On May 15,
1943 she married George J. Becker in Fond du Lac.
Mrs. Becker
was a member of Holy Family Parish. For five generations her family attended
the St. Patrick’s site, where she was a member of its Altar and Rosary Society.
She was also a past member of the Round Table, St. Agnes Hospital Auxiliary,
the St. Francis Home Auxiliary, Saturday Lecture Club and Residential Services.
She served on the board of the St. Agnes Hospital Foundation. Mary was an
honorary member and past president of Sigma and the Service League, and an
honorary member of the Charity Club.
Survivors
include her daughter, Martha B. (Gilbert J.) McGloin of Topeka Kansas, a
daughter-in-law, Nancy Becker of Fond du Lac, five grandchildren, Adam (Becca)
Becker of Hubertus, Cody (Katie) of Kaukauna, Aimee Becker of California,
Jennifer (Kip) Matthews of Minnesota,
and Michael (Laura) McGloin of Lawrence, Kansas, great-grandchildren, Brylie
and Ayvrie Becker of Hubertus, and Aidlyn Becker of Kaukauna. She is further
survived and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mary was
preceded in death by her husband, George in 2001, a daughter Emily Becker in
2004, and her son Joseph Becker in 2016, a sister Jane Callahan Smith and a
brother John E. Callahan.
Services: Visitation
will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 1:00 to 1:45 PM in the St.
Francis Home Chapel, 33 Everett Street in Fond du Lac. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 2:00 PM. Burial will
be in the St. Charles Cemetery.
In lieu of
flowers, memorials may be directed to the Mary Callahan Becker Educational Fund
in care of the Fond du Lac Area Foundation or to Holy Family Parish.
