Michael A. Jones
Michael A. Jones died Monday, July 7, 2025. Mike was born November 19, 1947 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. His parents were Floyd H. Jones and Margaret Hutter Jones.
Mike graduated from St. Mary’s Springs in 1966 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army. Mike was a Vietnam Vet followed by eight years of service with the Reserve and National Guard.
Mike owned and operated Mac’s Store on Sixth and Park Avenue for seven years. He graduated from UW-Oshkosh in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Mike retired from the Union Pacific Railroad after 32 years of service.
Mike was always interested in politics. He served on the Fond du Lac County Board for 16 years. Mike proudly belonged to the American Legion. His main personal interest was Civil War history.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, brothers Thomas Jones, David Jones and brother-in-law Luke R. Martin.
He is survived by his sisters Stephanie Martin and Victoria (Mike) Bartz and brother Paul (Sue) Jones; also sister-in-law Cheri Welch, nieces Kelsey Jones, Christina Jones and Meryl (Conor) Klecker, nephews Luke S. (Amy) Martin, Christopher E. (Katy) Martin, Thomas H. Jones, Joseph Bartz, Peter Bartz and Mac Jones.
Mike’s family invites relatives and friends for a memorial service on Friday, July 18th at Zacherl Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. A time of visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Military honors will be given at the end of services. A private interment will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to St. Mary Springs Academy.
