Michael E. Michels

Michael E. Michels, 82, passed away on April 28, 2025, surrounded by his children at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born on September 24, 1942, to his parents, Leander and Augusta Michels in Fond du Lac.

Mike grew up on the family farm and then served in the US Army. On May 15, 1965, he married Dellene Weber. He began his working years as a carpenter and then purchased a farm across from the family farm. He then sold the farm in 1984 and went to work for Agri-Land Co-op, from where he retired. Mike loved spending time with his family, hunting, traveling and socializing. Everyone knew that Mike had the gift of gab.

He is survived by his children, Tom (Katie) Michels, Mary (Richard) Traxinger, Steven (Patty) Michels, SuAnne (Amy) Ambler; grandchildren, Seth, Sam, Joey, Janae, Nick, Tessa, Abby; seven great-grandchildren.

He is further survived by his siblings, Julie Kaiser, Rosie Wittchow, Cele Ernest, Dorothy Commo, Leanard (Judy) Michels, Rodger (Pat) Michels, Carol (Marian) Renfrow; sister-in-law, Barb Michels; siblings-in-law, Rita Weber and Ralph Birschbach; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dellene Michels; his parents; parents-in-law, Harry and Oliva Weber; brothers, Jim Michels and Norbert Michels; and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

A visitation will take place from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E Division St, in Fond du Lac. A celebration of life will follow the visitation at the Eagles Club, 515 N Park Ave, in Fond du Lac.
