Mildred N. Westerveld

Mildred N. Westerveld, 102, of Waupun, died peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Christian Homestead in Waupun.

 

Mildred was born June 1, 1911 in Waupun the daughter of the late John and Bessie Rens Prange.  On September 19, 1934 she married Willis Westerveld and the couple farmed in the Alto area most of their lives.  Willis died in 1978.  Mildred was an active life-long member of Alto Reformed Church.

 

Mildred is survived by four daughters, Betty (Orville) Kemink of Brandon, Karen (Verlan) Den Adel of Pella, IA, Nancy Vande Slunt of Waupun, and Shirley (Alan) Ver Hage of Waupun; 16 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Prange and John Prange, Jr.; a sister, Dorothy Vant Hoff; and a son-in-law, Delwin Vande Slunt.

 

Funeral Services for Mildred Westerveld will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Alto Reformed Church. Rev’s Ted Medema and Ted Lindman will officiate. Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery.  Family and Friends may call on the family on Wednesday at church from 9 a.m. until the hour of Service.

 

A memorial has been established in Mildred’s name.
