Nevins “Nevy” Aeraki Zoch

Nevins “Nevy” Aeraki Zoch passed away on January 21, 2023 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac on September 28, 2006 to proud parents Matthew Zoch and Beth Grube. Nevins was currently a sophomore attending Laconia High School.

Nevins was an extremely bright and intelligent boy from the time he was very young. Even at the age of four, his parents and grandparents thought Nevins may be smarter than them. Nevins had a vibrant imagination with a curious desire and love for learning new things. His ability to memorize and retain knowledge amazed us repeatedly. He had a heart of gold and cared about everyone around him loving without condition or reservation. Nevins had a quirky and hilarious sense of humor that gave him the title of class clown. His talent for making others laugh and his charismatic personality allowed him to strike up conversations as he lit up any room he entered. Nevins had dreams of continuing his education beyond the high school level and one day hoped to become an engineer.

Nevins enjoyed many sports including football, baseball, and hockey. He began playing football with JFL as a sixth-grade student. Nevins met an incredible group of young men while playing football with the JFL and attending the Fond du Lac school district. He was passionate about football and enjoyed playing his freshman year at Fondy High and his sophomore year with the Laconia Spartans. Nevins and his friends liked to play outdoor hockey on homemade rinks and Lake Winnebago.

Nevy loved cars, trucks and motorcycles or anything with a motor. He attended many car shows over the years with his family. Nev spent many hours discussing his project BMW car with his dad. Nevins was very proud of his dirt bike and loved the freedom and independence riding gave him. He liked to tinker in the garage revving up engines and take things apart – putting them back together most of the time.

Nevins was an active outdoorsman who enjoyed scouting for ducks, geese, crows, deer, or anything that was in season. He went on many hunting trips with his dad, grandpa Bob, and close friends from the surrounding areas.  Nevins spent countless hours fishing with his family members and friends with his favorite “honey hole” being the Fond du Lac High School Pond. Nevins was blessed to spend many family vacations at the Grube family cabin in Minocqua and the Zoch family cottage in Door County where unforgettable memories were made. Nevins loved spending days at the beach swimming, paddle boating and renting a canoe for fishing with an end of the day trip to Kelley’s Creamery.

Nevins is survived by his parents Matthew and Brittany Zoch, Beth Grube and Josh Liedke; siblings Tessa, Benna, Orion, Finnegan and Theodore, grandparents Bill and Barb Zoch, Bob and Jeanne Grube, Jeff and Beth Waller and great grandma Carol Grube.

He is further survived by aunts and uncles Andrew and Samantha Zoch, Nick and Greta Grube, Amber Grube and Luke Lange; cousins Audrey and Gibson Zoch, Eamon, Everett and Turner Grube, Lane, Leif and Lyle Lange, other relatives and many friends, his caring girlfriend Laura, phenomenal mentor, teacher and friend, Luke Tranel and all of the “Bro’s.”  There were so many special people in Nevins’ life making it impossible to list everyone.

Nevins was preceded in death by his maternal great grandparents Helen and Gary Winget, Robert Grube; paternal great grandparents Frederic and Sally Thome and Austin and Audrey Zoch.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the family.

Nevins’ family invites friends and relatives for a visitation to Holy Family Catholic Church, 271 4th Street Way, Fond du Lac, on Friday, January 27, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. A private Memorial Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled. Cremation has taken place.
