Norma Bracewell

Norma Bracewell, age 92 of Fond du Lac, died on Saturday March 15th at Maple Meadows Assisted Living. She was born June 1, 1932, the daughter of Walter and Gertrude Marten of Eden, WI. She graduated from St. Mary’s Springs Academy in 1950.

On August 8, 1953, she married Thomas Bracewell and they spent 59 years together until his passing in 2012. They were members of Holy Family Catholic Parish.

Norma’s home was always open to anyone that wanted to visit or needed a place to stay. No one ever left hungry as she was an excellent cook and baker. Norma lived most of her life at the home she and Thomas built on Rienzi Road. There, she enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens and cherished the moments spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her ability to make others feel welcome and loved was one of her greatest gifts.

She will be remembered as a woman of strength, compassion and devotion to her faith until the end.

Norma is survived by her three children: son Thomas (Pam) Bracewell II of Conover, WI, daughters Ann (Glenn) Sutton of Glendale, AZ and Mary Phillips of Fond du Lac. She is further survived by five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren: Katie (Chris) Prey of Appleton and their children Winnie and Evie, Michael Sutton, Jennifer Phillips and her children Lucas and Hailey, Thomas Bracewell III, Catherine Julka and her children Wesley, Colton and Josie.

Also surviving are her three sisters Jackie Galligan, Joanne (James) Sippel and Phyllis (Kent) Zimmerman as well as other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother-in-law.

At Norma’s request, there will be no service and she has been laid to rest beside her husband at Rienzi Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Maple Meadows Assisted Living for their care and compassion for the last six years and to Heartland Hospice for their care the last few days of her life.
