Pam Steffen-Skeels
We have gained an Angel. After a 30-year battle with MS, Pam Steffen-Skeels has gone to her reward. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at St. Francis Home. Pam spent 17 years at the Villa Lorreto in Mt. Calvary until it was closed. She had many friends there, everybody knew Pam. She was known as the villa greater as she waved hi to everyone. She was also known for a mean high five.
Pam was born May 11, 1968 to Robert and Kathleen Steffen. She grew up in Fond du Lac and attended Sacred Heart, St. Mary’s Elementary, and St. Mary’s Springs, graduating in 1986. She then attended UW-Stevens Point and graduated with a degree in communications. While a student there, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.
Her summers during college were spent working at Peninsula State Park in Door County where she met her future husband. After graduation from college, she worked at Zion National Park in Utah. Those were such happy years for her.
She returned to Fond du Lac and married Ed Skeels on October 9, 1993. They had one child, Addison James. They later divorced.
Pam loved the outdoors, camping, quilting, and of course Mick Jagger. Oh, and one more thing… chocolate. Pam was a great writer, so many people commented on what heartfelt thank you’ s they received from her. She also enjoyed taking pictures and was very proud of the picture that was selected for the College Photo contest when she was a senior at UWSP.
Survivors include her son Addison of La Crosse, WI; parents Robert and Kathleen Steffen; sister Cheryl Steffen of Fond du Lac; two brothers Anthony (Lisa) Steffen of Oshkosh and Jeffrey Steffen of Switzerland; six nieces and nephews; three grand nephews; as well as many aunts and uncles.
Pam’s family invites friends and relatives to a time of visitation on October 30, 2024 at Holy Cross Church, 308 S. County W, Mt. Calvary, WI from 9:30 to 11:30. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place following the visitation at 11:30.
The family wishes to thank all those who helped Pam though her journey. A special thank you to hospice nurse Kayla.
Memorials may be given in Pam’s name to Cristo Rey Ranch.
