Patti J. Rechek
With full hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Patti J. Rechek, age 71, on October 13, 2025. Patti passed peacefully, just days before her 72nd birthday, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and spirited living.
Born on October 26, 1953, to Bob and Irene Werth, Patti lived her life with fierce pride in her family, her work, and her country. She was spunky, outspoken, and never afraid to speak her mind — a trait that earned her both respect and affection from all who knew her. Patti had a heart big enough for everyone. She was a stoic mother and a second mother to many, always offering advice and support to friends and family alike.
A lifelong caregiver, Patti proudly served others through her long and varied nursing career. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), she began in hospital settings before expanding into a wide range of roles — from home health and nursing homes to prisons and temp agency placements.
Later in her career, as an occupational health nurse, she was especially proud of her contracted work with the U.S. Army at Fort McCoy and Fort Knox — a role that combined her nursing skills with her deep patriotism. Serving those who served our country brought her immense pride and purpose.
A proud American, Patti loved her country deeply and showed it in both word and action. She never missed an election, lit up during patriotic holidays, and took great pride in her military-associated nursing work.
Patti was a caring mother of four children: Chantel Rechek (Mark Huhn), Bernadette (Merrick) Sohm, Benjamin (Ashley Theis) Rechek, and Amanda (Joe) Lefeber. She was the proud grandmother of Hunter Huhn, Sommer (Tyler Myhre) Huhn, Gretta Kumrow, Donny Sohm, Gavin Sohm, Aubree Rechek, Corinne Rechek, Payton Rechek, and Regan Rechek, and great-grandmother to Ember Myhre and Lenny Myhre.
She is survived by her sisters Mary Salter, Donalee Hoodie, Julie Werth, and Kathy (Bob) Gray, and brother-in-law Danny Vis, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Patti was preceded in death by her parents Bob and Irene Werth; sisters Jackie Owen and Faye Vis; brother-in-law Roland Salter; nephews Scott Salter and Lee Owen; and several beloved grand-dogs: Grover, Baxter, Maggie, and Henry.
She loved a party — especially one with food. Patti was always the last to leave, enjoying every story, every laugh, and every moment shared. Her zest for life, sharp wit, and fierce loyalty will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E Division St, Fond du Lac. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Patti’s legacy by helping someone in need, sharing a story, or raising a glass in her memory. Let her spirit inspire you to speak your truth, love without hesitation, and always stay for one more dessert.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff at Preceptor Home Health & Hospice and Frontida – Adelaide Place for their endless patience, compassion, and support.
