Paul H. Koehler
Paul H. Koehler, age 72, of Hilbert, passed away after a long, courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at his home. He was born June 10, 1947, son of the late Norbert and Anna (Hoffman) Koehler.
Paul married the love of his life, Angie Wenzel on October 2, 1971 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Hilbert and they started their family.
Paul was a hard worker and proud of his farming career and accomplishments. He was named the Calumet County young farmer of the year in 1982, member of the Calumet County Farmers Club, FVTI farm training, and Holstein breeders association. After his farming career he had worked in various factory jobs, retiring in 2011 from SCA Tissue where he met a lot of good friends.
Paul was a helpful and kind soul who was active in his community. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church in St. John, Knights of Columbus, St. John Holy Name Society and looked forward to visiting homebound in the community and bringing them communion.
Very often you could catch Paul cheering on his Packers and Brewers. A mellow man unless he was cheering on his sports teams. He not only enjoyed watching the games, but he also enjoyed playing baseball in the backyard with family and bowling with friends in leagues. He enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great grandson. You may have also found Paul playing a game of sheephead or two under a covered wagon pulled by two horses around town. A charismatic guy, he could get along with anyone and strike up conversation, a cheerful and likable guy.
One of Paul’s favorite past times that he always looked forward to was spending time with his family at cookouts, rock concerts and holidays. Paul will be greatly missed by his wife, Angie; his children: Richard (Hope) Koehler, Michael (Veronica) Koehler, and Julie (James) Bloniarz; grandchildren: Kayla Koehler and fiancé Marcus Qualle, Emily Koehler, and Sophia Koehler; great-grandchild, Max Qualle; sister-in-law, Rosie Vomberg; brothers-in-law: Harley (Ann) Wenzel, Jimmy (Nancy) Wenzel, Victor (Greta) Wenzel, and Sidney (Penny) Wenzel and many nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law, Benny and Sophie Wenzel; siblings-in-law: Donald Wenzel, Geneva and Earl Nettekoven, Mary Ann and Al Seffker.
Funeral Services will be at 11:30 AM on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W Main St.) in Chilton with Rev. Michael Betley officiating.
