Peter J. Stierman

Peter J. Stierman, 77, of Fond du Lac, passed away at home on August 21, 2025. He was born on October 14, 1947 in Appleton.

Peter was the first of two sons, Peter and Paul to proud parents LeRoy and Barbara (Vogl) Stierman. He was raised in Appleton until 1962 when he entered the seminary for the Capuchin order. He was educated and trained as a Brother within the Order. On January 2, 1985, Peter left the Order.

His first job was at St. Mary’s Springs High School. After a few career changes, Peter ended his career by working for Brenner Tank for 20 years and retired on March 1, 2013.

On August 9, 2003, Peter met and fell in love with Cecelia Freeman. Peter and Cecelia were married September 1, 2006 at Sacred Heart Parish by Fr. Pat Heppe.

At that time, Peter became a husband, father and grandfather by saying “I do.” On May 24, 2018, Peter was diagnosed with cancer, Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia, of which there is no cure.

Preceding Peter in death are his wife and better half Cecelia (Freeman) Stierman, parents LeRoy and Barbara (Vogl) Stierman, and brother Paul and his wife Vickie Stierman.

Peter is survived by three children Rene’ (Larry) Dumas, Carolyn Bube, and Anthony (Jessica) Freeman with many grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as nieces Kim and Jenny Stierman, other relatives and friends. 

Peter’s family invites friends and relatives to a time of visitation on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at Zacherl Funeral Home from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. A Liturgy of the Word will take place following the visitation at 1:00 p.m.
