Raymond Ivan Pagel

Raymond Ivan Pagel, 97, of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully at his home on June 6, 2026. He was born on September 29, 1928, to Frank and Theresa Pagel in Fond du Lac, WI. He was educated in Fond du Lac and graduated in 1948 from high school.

In his youth he was employed at Thiel Drug Store, followed by becoming a professional painter, retiring from Spies Painting. He treasured spending time with family, friends, and his dog, Reggie. His pattern was calling everyone by George.

Ray is survived by daughters, Kathleen Hoover of St. Peter’s, MO and Sue Hogan of Wallsenburg, CO; sons, Troy (Becky) Pagel of Fond du Lac and Todd (Jennifer) Pagel of Mount Prospect, IL; grandchildren, Julie (Matt) Wagner, Bill (Shannon) Hogan, Madison and Connor Pagel, and Jaylyn Aelig; 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Elaine, Dorothy, Marvin, Beverly and Donald; son-in-law, Bill Hoover; grandson, Michael Hoover; nephews, Randy Gaffney and Tom Ready; niece, Mary Ellen Housner; and other nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:45 PM, at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E Division Street in Fond du Lac. A Funeral Service will follow the visitation at 5:00 PM. Entombment will take place at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum at Ledgeview Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank the other family members, friends, and neighbors for their loving care, help and visits. Also, a big thank you to SSM Hospice and Dr. Litman for their care and support.
