Rebecca “Becky” Ann Brown

Rebecca “Becky” Ann Brown, 65, of Fond du Lac, died on Monday, October 21, 2024 at home.

She was born in Toledo, Ohio on November 25, 1958 to John D. and Lynda M. Nusbaum.

On April 14, 1998, she married Robert Devlin Brown in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Canada.

Soon after their marriage, they made their way to Fond du Lac where they called home.

Becky was raised in Toledo, Ohio but soon found adventures moving to Dover, Delaware; Woodbridge,

Virginia and Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Canada. Above all things, she cherished her children and loved

her family and friends. Becky was often the one to offer a shoulder to lean on and hugs to comfort those

in need while dealing with her own silent grief.

Before illness forced her to retire, she worked a number of interesting jobs. In the days when secretaries

were the bosses right-hand worker (pre-computer), she was considered a cut above the rest as administrative assistant to the sheriff in Woodbridge, Va with a typing skill of over 80 words per minute matched by her short-hand skill of the same.

Following her move to Fond du Lac, she put her people skills to work at a Hallmark store. She enjoyed

constructing the displays, spending much of her paycheck on her passion for Wizard of Oz collectibles.

Her ever-growing collection nearly outgrew her spaces in the dining room. Even her car didn’t escape

the adornment of the Great Oz. It was always easy to spot her in the parking lot for sure. Her child-like love for the beauty in the land of Oz kept her often searching for a peace that evaded her in reality. Such a gentle soul.

Becky is survived by her husband Robert, daughter, Rachel Marie Mohammed; child, Bailey (Tyler) Brown; grandson, Chistopher Shallcross. Four siblings; sister, Patricia (Paul) Thatcher-Santoro; brother, John (Gina) Nusbaum; sister, Susan (Thomas) Sawyer and brother Todd (Kim) Nusbaum. Also survived by brother-in-law Tim (Lynn) Brown; sister-in-law Sheri Brown and several beloved nieces, nephews and friends. All those that knew and loved her will miss her witty humor, deep love of family and we weep for our loss. But she weeps no more.

She was preceded in death by her parents and step-parents Janet R. Nusbaum and Donald J. Cukierski.

Father and Mother-in-Law, Tim and Mary Brown. Also preceded in death by her son, Chad Michael Mohammed; niece, Tricia Lee Mohammed; nephew; John D. Nusbaum III; infant nephew Michael Brown.

Becky’s family will greet friends and relatives for a time of visitation on Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E Division St, in Fond du Lac.

Memorials in Becky’s name may be offered to the Fond du Lac County Humane Society.
