Reva Pauline Hofer Gross
Reva Pauline
Hofer Gross, age 94, our beloved mother, left this world to her eternal home on
August 5, 2015. Reva was born on March
11, 1921 in
Thompson. She was the first born of
eleven children. Most of her life was
spent in the Huron,
area.
She married
Pete A. Hofer in 1940. To this union,
four children were born: Ruthe Shultz, Donald Hofer, Marsha Carlson and Marilyn
Ritchhart.
She married
Art Gross on May 8, 1971. She and Art
enjoyed their years in retirement. They
did some traveling and enjoyed spending time with children and
grandchildren. They were members of the
continued attending there after Art’s death.
Reva worked
at Armour & Company for 38 years.
She had many friends in Huron and even after moving to
newspaper and to catch up on the news in Huron.
A few years after her retirement, she moved to
to be near her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Reva lived a
long and fulfilling life. She was
blessed to have eight grandchildren, Chad (Shirl) Shultz, Cleve (Donna) Shultz,
Cassandra (Steve) Bassetto, Brandon Ritchhart, April (Ramon) Ibarra, Aubrey
(Broc) Fleischer, Kenneth Hofer, along with seventeen great grandchildren,
Camric, Kelsea and Maxx Shultz, Hunter and Avery Shultz, Karson and Kaden
Bassetto, Blake and Keagen Fleischer, Isabel, Elle, Israel, Ramon, Zion, Isaac
and Darwin Ibarra, and three sisters, Norma Yost, Patti Keckler and Bernice
Wahlert.
Reva is
preceded in death by her son, Donald Hofer, Pete A. Hofer, the father of her
children, her husband, Art Gross, and her sons-in-law, Richard R. Carlson and Maurice
“Maury” Shultz. She is also preceded in
death by her parents, three brothers and four sisters.
The family
will receive relatives and friends at the Zacherl Funeral Home,
in
on Saturday, August 8th, from 11:00 to 11:45 AM. A funeral service will follow visitation at the
funeral home at Noon. Burial will take
place at
