Richard L. “Dick” Dieter
Richard L. “Dick” Dieter, 94, passed away at home on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 surrounded by family.
He was born February 19, 1929 in Polo, Illinois to Delos and Eleanor (Doll) Dieter. Dick moved to Boscobel with his family in 1933 and graduated from Boscobel High School in 1947.
Dick served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 ’til 1953, stationed in Germany.
Dick married Rita Kane, the love of his life in Seneca, WI on November 25, 1954. God blessed them with 66 years of loving marriage and two daughters.
Dick worked in data processing/payroll at Giddings and Lewis in Fond du Lac until he retired in 1992. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as a Grand Knight. During his lifetime, he was involved in many volunteer activities at Holy Family Parish, the Fondu du Lac ARC, Junior Achievement, and Loaves and Fishes to name a few.
Dick had three priorities in life: God, family, and friends. He was always there to lend a hand. Dick found true joy in helping others.
Left behind to cherish Dick’s memory are his daughters Joan (Jeff) Caine and Cathy (Tom) Deitte; grandchildren Teresa (Jason) Chambers, Timothy (Katie) Caine, Brian (Traci) Caine, Maria (Brian) Hackbarth, Steven (Mary) Deitte, Colleen and Christine Deitte; great grandchildren Jameson and Evelyn Chambers, Eleanor and Zachary Hackbarth, Bella Ludeman, Mason, Lillian, and Delaney Caine, Easton Caine, and Palmer Deitte.
He is further survived by his sisters-in-law Jeanne Stuckey, Betty Ann (John) O’Donnell and Mary Ellyn (Brian) Oetzel as well as many nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his loving wife Rita; sister Myra (John) Polashek; nephew John Polashek; brothers-in-law Neil (Mary) Kane and Al Stuckey.
Dick’s family invites friends and relatives to a time of visitation on Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fond du Lac, WI. A Mass of Christian Burial follow visitation at 11:00 AM. Entombment will take place at Calvary Mausoleum.
Dick’s family would like to give a loving thank you to his special angel Jenny.
In lieu of flowers, Dick’s family would appreciate donations in his name to Holy Family Parish, the Knights of Colombus, or a hospice program.
