Richard “Rick” Goedderz

Richard “Rick” Goedderz, 64, of Fond du Lac, passed away on July 8, 2023, at the Hospice Home of Hope after complications from a head injury he sustained from a fall. He was born December 24, 1958, to Gerry and Dolores (Lesniak) Goedderz. Rick graduated from L.P. Goodrich High School in 1978.

Rick worked at a local carwash for a short time just out of high school. In 1980 he became employed at Badger Liquor Co., Inc. where he worked for just under 39 years. Rick or “Tish” as most of his co-workers knew him as, was hard-working and kind. He would frequently bring in treats to share with his Badger Family such as taco dip and cheese and sausage trays.

Rick loved helping people. So much that in his free time, he would regularly care for the yards of several residents of Fond du Lac, mowing lawns, raking leaves and blowing snow.

He also enjoyed traveling and antiquing, often finding treasures and gifting them to friends. He enjoyed having his nieces and nephews over at a young age to take turns playing the slot machine and to fish.

Rick enjoyed the company of friends at “The Press Box” and “Three Sheets” where he would be found with a smile, a story and a Bacardi & Coke! He often loved having a late-night Bob’s Pizza.

When on his deck at home on the lake, he enjoyed the evening calm of the water and the activity of the ducks.

Rick was a unique, one-of-a-kind type of guy, with a special smirk all of his own. He was a good friend and brought smiles to all those whose lives he touched. He will be missed by many.

Rick is survived by sisters, Sue Annen (Herb) (Venice FL) and Patty Briggs (Thom) (Madison WI) one brother Tom (Karen) (Peoria AZ), sister-in-law Stella Goedderz, and 5 nieces and 6 nephews.

Rick was preceded in death by his father and mother, brother James Goedderz, and niece Brittany Ochoa.

A private family service will be held on Tuesday, July 18.

A Celebration of Life with friends and family will be held on Friday, August 18 at the Press Box, 251 Forest Ave, Fond du Lac from 4:00 – 8:00.

Cremation has taken place.
