Robert J. Warner

            Robert J. Warner, 75, of Fond du Lac, died Friday, November 16, 2012, in Mauston, WI, as the result of an automobile accident. He was born July 29, 1937 in Ashford, WI., the son of Oscar and Leona Warner. At a very young age, he became the foster son of Alexander and Inez Hess, Sr. He was a graduate of Fond du Lac School in 1956. On January 28, 1956, he married Nancy L. Rahl at St. Mary’s Church. Robert was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was employed as a plumber for over 25 years by J.F. Ahern Company, retiring in 1999. After his retirement, he worked part-time at the Taycheedah Correctional Institution for five years. He was a member of Eagles Aerie #270 and Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local #400. As an avid sportsman, Robert was a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Ducks Unlimited, Whitetails Unlimited, and the National Rifle Association.

            He is survived by two daughters, Lynn (Edward “Pete”) Zinniel of North Fond du Lac, and Leila (Todd) Gitter of Oakfield, one son, Scott (Sue) Warner of Fond du Lac, three granddaughters, Stacey (Fiancé Matthew Matuszewski ) and Bethany Warner, both of Fond du Lac, and Paige Gitter, of Oakfield. He is further survived by three sisters, Gloria Bednarek of North Fond du Lac, Betty (Melvin) Mueller of Fond du Lac, and Pat Schmitz of Mt. Calvary, a brother, Warren (Yvonne) Hess of Fond du Lac, and a sister-in-law, Donna Hess of Fond du Lac. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, foster parents (Alexander and Inez Hess, Sr.), two brothers-in-law, Richard Bednarek and Anthony Schmitz, a brother, Alex “Al” Hess, Jr., a sister, Grace (Art) Friedl, and a sister-in-law, Virginia Hess.

 

Visitation for Robert J. Warner will be on Friday, November 23, 2012, from 10 AM to 1 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 PM at the funeral home on Friday. Rev. Jennifer Dawson will officiate and entombment will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park. A memorial has been established in Robert’s name.
