Robert T. Gueller
Robert T. Gueller, 86, of Fond du Lac passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Hospice Home of Hope. Known to family and friends as Bob, he was born September 30, 1927, in Milwaukee, WI to Clarence and Virginia (Maternowski) Gueller.
Bob was a graduate of Clintonville High School and served in the US Marine Corps, from 1946 – 1948, achieving the rank of staff sergeant. On May 26, 1951, Bob married Audrey I. Spanbauer, at Sacred Heart Church, in Oshkosh. He worked in his father’s family business and then for United Parcel Service for several years, prior to owning and operating Heritage Lanes, in Mt. Calvary, for over 29 years.
Bob will be best remembered for his endearing smile, kind heart, fun sense of humor, and story telling. He frequently offered words of encouragement that were optimistic and sincere. Bob also loved the arts, including theater and music, as well as spending time in Florida with his companion of many years, Mary Reinhart.
Family gatherings were among Bob’s favorite things. Above all, he loved the Lord, and openly displayed his conviction to his faith.
He is survived by his four children, Steve (Mary) of Mt. Calvary, Ellen (Tom) Fuller of Waukesha, Jane Calkins of Oshkosh, and Richard (Heather) of Neenah. Bob is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, Eric, Mitchell, Ryan, Andy, Ben, Meghan, Lucas, Elliott, Regan, and Payten as well as seven great grand children – Gram, Henry, Allison, Nolan, Nathan, Adam, and Weston; his sister, Mary Alice Kuechenburg of Fond du lac and special friend Mary Rinehart of Fond du lac. Bob is further survived by many special nieces and nephews.
Preceding Bob in death were his wife of 30 years, Audrey, his parents, Clarence and Virginia Gueller, and his brother, Richard Gueller.
Visitation: The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division Street, in Fond du Lac, from 1:00 – 5:00 pm and from 9:30 – 10:45 am, on Monday, May 5, 2014, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mt. Calvary.
Service: The funeral service will be at 11:00 am, on Monday, May 5, 2014, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mt. Calvary; followed by private interment at Ledgeview Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Robert’s name may be directed to Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mt. Calvary, Agnesian Hospice Home of Hope, or the American Legion, Mt. Calvary.
