Ronald F. Hessler Sr.
Ronald F. Hessler Sr. was reunited with his wife Dolores and son Ron Jr to rest eternally together on February 3, 2021.
Ron was born on June 10, 1930 to Gus and Elsie (Kemnitz) Hessler in Fond du Lac. Growing up with 4 sisters, Ron developed a sensitive gentle soul that endeared him to those who knew and loved him. This easy-going loving spirit led to many lifelong friendships. Most of these friends have since passed which saddened Ron. He truly loved to sit and chat and could make conversation with just about anyone.
Ron spent almost his entire life living in the Fond du Lac area. After graduating from Goodrich High School in 1948, Ron served in the National Guard before settling into work as an electrician. He spent many years as a volunteer for the ARC, Fishing Has No Boundaries, Special Olympics, and at his church where he and his son Ron Jr spent countless Saturday mornings maintaining the church grounds.
Ron married Dolores Frye on December 17, 1955 in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin. Together they raised 3 children and were blessed with 5 grandchildren whom they loved dearly. We don’t think there was a title Ron held that he loved more than “grandpa”. His family was always his pride and joy, and it showed in his devotion to them.
Ron and Dolores enjoyed traveling out west each winter to experience the warmth and beauty of Las Cruces, NM before making their way to Phoenix, AZ for the excitement of Brewers Spring Training Baseball. They spent 57 wonderful years together before she proceeded him in death on May 11, 2013.
This kind and loving man has left a permanent mark on the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him. He will be forever missed by his daughter Beth (Philip) and son Dean (Meghan), his 5 beloved grandchildren: Eric (Jaclyn), Molly, Emily (Cary), Devin, and Elizabeth as well as 4 great grandchildren Evalynn, Owen, Wyatt, and Audrey. Other survivors include two sisters Dorothy (Jerry) and Joan.
In addition to his wife, he was proceeded in death by a son Ron Jr in 2012, his parents, two sisters Barbara and June, many lifelong friends, and other relatives.
Ron was extremely generous with his time and money and was willing to help however he could. With this in mind in lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Fond du Lac ARC, or his church St Johns of Nekimi.
He will have a private service just for family because of COVID-19. Uecker Witt is in charge of arrangements.
