Rosella M. Mayer

Rosella M.
Mayer, age 98, of Fond du Lac, went to meet her Savior on February 25, 2018.
She had been at Hospice Home of Hope since January 4, 2018.


She was born
on November 20, 1919 at home near Eden. She was the daughter of John and Rose
O’Laughlin Bonzelet. She attended Hayes Elementary School, Roosevelt Junior
High School and graduated from Fond du Lac High School in 1938. She then
attended Fond du Lac Commercial College.


On November
20, 1943 Rosella married Daniel Mayer in Killeen, Texas. While in Texas she
worked for the USO in the evenings, the Military Post as a secretary, as a
witness for baptisms and weddings for Chaplain Meyer, and as a secretary for
the Military Post Office.


After
returning to Fond du Lac in 1946, she worked for Wauwatosa Realty, Quickfreeze
and many years for the Children’s Board of Social Services.


She was a
member of Holy Family Church (Sacred Heart), and was on the Perpetual Adoration
team for 29 years. She was also a member of the Altar Society for many years.


Additionally,
she was a member of the FDL Yacht Club, Hammond Organ Society, FDL Historical
Society and Wisconsin Steam Antique Engine Club.


Survivors
include brothers-in-law, Merlin Mayer, Tony (Connie) Mayer, Jim Hayes and
sisters-in-law, Esther Bonzelet, Dolores Mayer and Rosaleen Hutter; many nieces
and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.


Preceding
her in death was her husband, three brothers, John, Joseph and Leo Bonzelet,
two sisters, Mary Abel, and Frances Kohlbeck, brothers-in-law, George Abel,
Virgil Kohlbeck and Richard Mayer, sisters-in-law, Leona Bonzelet, Ione Mayer
and Kathleen Hayes.


Rosella was
greatly loved by her generations of nieces and nephews and was also enjoyed by
the staff at Schreiners.


Visitation:
Rosella’s family will greet relatives and friends at Sacred Heart Catholic
Church, 200 S. Peters Avenue, Fond du Lac, on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 from
2:00 to 3:45 PM.


Service: A
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church following
visitation at 4:00 PM. Private entombment will be at Ledgeview Memorial Park.


The family
wishes to thank the employees of Above and Beyond Care who provided care for
Rosella, allowing her to remain at her home until January of this year.
Additional thanks to the Hospice staff that assisted with her care at her home
and the entire staff at Hospice Home of Hope.
