Russell G. Wagner
Russell G. Wagner, a beloved husband, a passionate fisherman, peacefully passed away on September 24, 2024, at Froedtert Hospital and the Medical College of Wisconsin surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 21, 1959, in Fond du Lac to Lucille (Gloede) Wagner and Henry Wagner, he was raised in the community of Campbellsport, WI.
He was a resident of the City of Fond du Lac for many years and was a 1978 graduate of the American School in Chicago, where he earned his GED. He married his “soulmate”, Tricia Ann (Hill) Wagner on December 22, 1995 in Fond du Lac. Russ worked as an extrusion press operator and dye technician at Mid-States Aluminum Corp. for 26 years, until his retirement in April 2007. He subsequently went back to work for 7 more years at Wright Bros. Paper Box until retiring in August 2015.
Russell’s love for fishing was evident to all who knew him, as he spent many peaceful hours on the water, indulging in this favorite pastime. He was always trying to catch the “big one” and enjoyed taking his grandchildren fishing.
An enthusiast of classic cars and car shows, Russell and Tricia enjoyed the camaraderie and excitement of these events. His presence will be greatly missed by all who shared in these passions with him. Customizing vehicles for over a decade, when at a car show and spectators would ask about the vehicles, he would always point to his wife and tell them to ask her. Russ was a man of few words. He was very quiet most of the time and never got upset easily.
Russell leaves behind his devoted wife of 28 years, Tricia Wagner, his sister, Darlene Wagner of West Bend; Sister in law, Lori Wagner (John) of Punta Gorda, FL; his son, Josh Wagner (special friend Kristi) of Jackson; two step-sons who he helped raise as his own, Zach Naparala and Justin Hill of Fond du Lac; and a daughter, Jessica Koepke (Brandon) of Fox Crossing. He is further survived by 4 grandchildren, Haley Wagner, Jaxon Zorn, Elizibeth Zorn, and Jonah Koepke. As well as nieces Tracy and Carrie; nephew Jeffery; Wayne Hill – Father in Law of Ripon, and Michael Hill – brother in law of Fond du Lac.
Russell was preceded in death by his father, mother and brother, James, mother in law Ann Hill, along with many aunts and uncles.
A celebration of Russ’s life will be held at Twohig Funeral Home in Fond du Lac on October 4, 2024, at 6:00 pm. Prior to the service, a Visitation will take place from 3:00 pm until the time of service.
