Stephen Douglas Broehm

Stephen Douglas Broehm, 71, passed away on April 23, 2026. He was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to the late Gerald and Joan (Supple) Broehm on February 27, 1955.

Steve was named after his grandfather, Douglas Supple, who owned Supple March until 1967 when it was sold to the city and also donated an ice wagon to display in the Galloway House.

Steve grew up on Roosevelt Street and graduated from St. Mary’s Springs High School in June 1973.

Steve worked as a steel fabricator until 1995. In 1995, Steve became paralyzed when he fell off a second-story porch at his Mother’s home. Through it all, Steve kept his positivity, sense of humor and zest for life. Steve took pride in being able to take care of himself. He worked hard to keep his upper body strong and fit.

To say Steve loved cars is an understatement. He retrofitted them so he could continue to drive. He was very fussy about the care and cleanliness of his car. Steve would store his precious vehicle away in the winter to keep it from the elements.

He decorated for every season and holiday. A quirky fellow, Steve enjoyed watching horror movies all year long. Classic rock was Steve’s “jam,” so much so that his license plate trim said, “Born to Rock.” He collected hundreds of CDs.

Steve enjoyed sports and was a huge Cubs fan. You always knew when the season began if you spent time with Steve. The Cubs gear and decorations were out.

Steve will be laid to rest next to his mother in a graveside memorial service on Tuesday, May 19th at 9:00 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery.

Steve’s friends are grateful to the many medical facilities, caretakers and amazing neighbors who helped Steve maintain his quality of life, kept an eye on him and assisted him when he was in need.
