Steven Douglas Brandt

Steven Douglas Brandt, better known as “Bubba” among family and friends, age 57, of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.

“Bubba” was born October 9, 1966, to Eugene and Nancy (Young) Brandt the youngest of six children and grew up in Grand Blanc, Michigan. He was a devoted son and brother and grew up playing football, riding unicycles, and keeping up with his older siblings. He graduated from Grand Blanc High School in 1984 and went on to attend Western Michigan University where he graduated with a marketing degree in 1989. In 1992, he met his wife, Rita (Haugen) in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They were married in November 1993 and soon had four children. He was a faithful and loving husband and protective and generous father. He worked in the metal industry in sales and management from 1989 until he passed. His career took him and his family on several moves across the country, including Charlotte, North Carolina (twice); Minneapolis, Minnesota; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Atlanta, Georgia; and finally to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. In every new place, whether it be for one year or 13 years, “Bubba” was a dedicated employee, trustworthy co-worker, caring mentor, dear friend, and good neighbor. He was a Christian and very active in his church congregations. Through the years he was a deacon over various ministries, including grounds and building maintenance, Bible school curriculum, youth group, and senior ministry. He also took on roles to serve his local congregation by leading singing, communion, and preaching.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Nancy Brandt; grandparents; his mother-in-law, Patricia Haugen; and uncle, Art Edwins. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Rita Brandt of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; children Kaylee (Paul) Toillion of Sherwood, Arkansas, Kara Brandt of Sherwood, Arkansas, Quinn Brandt of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Cole Brandt of Athens, Georgia; grandchildren Avett and Noah Toillion; siblings Eugenia Tyler of Grand Blanc, Michigan, Kent Brandt of Burton, Michigan, Brian (Cindy) Brandt of Swartz Creek, Michigan, Donald (Diane) Brandt of Maggie Valley, North Carolina, Jody (Steve) Vasas of Flushing, Michigan; aunts and uncles, David (Teresa) Young, Marilyn Edwins, and Stanley (Virginia) Young; nieces and nephews, David (Mandy) Brandt, Brittany (Eric) McClain, Cooper Brandt, Blake Tyler, Browning Schult, and Hannah (Kyle) Szalay; grandnieces, Makiyah Brown and Mia McClain; many dear and close cousins; and father-in-law, Lawrence Haugen, who loved him like his own son.

A memorial service to remember and celebrate the life of Steven “Bubba” Brandt will be held on Saturday, April 6th, 2024, at 2:00 PM CST hosted at Lighthouse Christian Church, 401 S. National Avenue, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin 54935.
