Theresa B. “Terry” Meier
Theresa B. “Terry” Meier, age 89, of Chilton, died on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Century Ridge in Chilton. She was born April 7, 1932, in Chilton, daughter of the late Peter C. & Amelia (Bruckner) Woelfel. Terry married Alvin J. Meier on July 29, 1953 at St. Martin Catholic Church in Charlestown; he preceded her in death on October 8 of 1999.
Terry was a strong willed woman who never let the grass grow und her feet. She artistically found ways to provide food and baked goods to all those she loved. Her nights of playing cards often sent people home with her delicious Christmas Candy and her world renowned peanut squares. On those infamous card nights, Terry never wanted people to utilize personal assets for socializing, so she would make her own Old Fashioned recipe to mix with a classic whisky or brandy in an effort to liven the evening.
As a connoisseur of all items food, Terry made time to take advantage of every opportunity to give to others all that she had in her cooking skills. She loved to make and eat chicken and rice, never passed up a good cob of sweet corn and knew that every Wednesday night was pizza night. During summer nights at the campground, Terry relaxed around the campfire where she expertly made pop corn with the only flavoring she found appropriate for such occasions and fed the chipmunks she befriended who lived under her camper. Her passion for the kitchen and tending to other peoples need for food was evident through her baking of fresh desserts for the kids at the Chilton Area Catholic School.
She worked at many places throughout the area including the Tinsel Factory in Sheboygan, the mink farm just outside of New Holstein and the Northland Turkey Farm in Chilton; all the while keeping the spirits of her fellow co-workers high by pulling pranks at the expense of others and running circles around her younger co-workers. She was devoted to the betterment of her community which was evident in her fervor to start a recycling program in the City of Chilton; going door to door to find support and explain the program. Her spirit and determination pushed her to twice survive breast cancer, and she was famous for replying to, “I love you,” with, “I love you more.”
Above all else, Terry’s faith was of utmost importance to her. She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, formerly St. Martin Parish where she was also actively involved in the Christian Women and sung in the church choir. She devoted much of her life to prayer for others and prayed the Rosary daily.
Survivors include her children: Mark (Tara) Meier, Mary Kay (Daniel) Jannette; her grandchildren: Beth (Matt) Wilson, Jill (Brian) Oldenburg, Katrina Meier and her special friend, Brian Brester, Christine (Matt) Puddy, Angela (Adam) Baltz, Felcia Meier, Mark (Lexi) Meier, Jr., Jessica (Jeremy) Hendricks, Joseph (RanaRose) Jannette, & Jared (Laura) Jannette; her great grandchildren: Kaylin & Hailey Wilson, L.J. Meier, Caleb Oldenburg, Peyton & Lucas Brester, Daniel & Jacob Puddy, Bailey & Bennett Baltz, Leo & Oliver Meier, Zalea & Emon Hendricks, TikkaRose, Reagan Jannette, Jackson Jannette, and another arriving soon; her two brothers: Marvin & Steve Woelfel, her Godchildren: Renee Nilles, Sandra Schumacher, Debbie Mueller, Peter Steiner and Donna Mae Woelfel. She is further survived by her siblings-in-law; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Terry was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Al; her siblings: Martin, Herman, Mal, Betty, Vince, Honey, Sr. Fran, Chibby, Lorie, Pete and their spouses; and her 2 Godchildren: John Reiser and Janet Hauser.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 am on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton with Rev. Jon Thorson officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Chilton. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W.
