Thomas E. Whealon

It is with an abundance of love and gratitude that the family of Thomas E. Whealon says goodbye to their husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle.

Tom passed away peacefully in his sleep at Hospice Home of Hope on Saturday, May 31, 2025 surrounded by loved ones and his hospice care team.

We wish to celebrate a life well lived and our good fortune of having him with us for 93 years. His selfless devotion to faith, family, and friends has been and will continue to be an inspiration to all.

Tom was born November 3, 1931 in Fond du Lac,WI the son of Thomas and Sarah (Meusel) Whealon.

He attended St. Joseph’s Grade School, St. Mary’s Springs Academy and graduated from St. Norbert College in 1956. On March 30, 1953, he married Beverly S. Commo at St. Joseph’s Church in Fond du Lac with the Rev. H.G. Riordan presiding.

Tom was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War with the 43rd Infantry Division. After military service and college graduation, he was employed by the A.C. Nielsen Company, holding senior management positions throughout the Midwest, Texas, and Haiti. He retired in 1988 after 32 years of employment.

He was a member of Holy Family Parish, The Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge #57, the American Legion, and the Calvary Cemetery Board.

Tom was fond of the outdoors and working in his yard at the lakehouse. He enjoyed quality time with his wife, Bev, and his children and grandchildren; he especially loved teaching them how to fish.

Tom is survived by his wife, Beverly; seven children, Debra Whealon of Fond du Lac; Steven (Teresa) Whealon of Elcho; Sandra (Richard) Skalitzky of Rhinelander; Kevin (Polly) Whealon of Fond du Lac; Andrew (Christine) Whealon of Fond du Lac;

Mary (Paul) Thomas of Uxbridge, Ontario; and Therese (Wayne) Arts of Gladstone, MI; fifteen grandchildren, Spencer, Stewart and Andrew Whealon; Shauna and Jacob Skalitzky; Sarah and Maxwell Whealon; Addyson, Lydia and Grace Whealon; Jack, Lillian and Ava Thomas; Everett and Isaac Arts; and 5 great-grandchildren.

He is further survived by a brother, Robert Whealon; sisters-in-law, Barb Whealon and NorRita Corsmeier; and special honorary grandsons, Anh Tran and Tu Phan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and half sister, Jean Downey.

Tom’s family invites friends and relatives to a time of visitation on Monday, June 16, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Fond du Lac from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place following the visitation at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Hospice Home of Hope.
