Thomas Roger Hlawek

Thomas Roger Hlawek, 88, of Hebron, MD and formerly of Fond du Lac, died Thursday, November 23, 2023, in Maryland. He was born on July 26, 1935, in Milwaukee, the son of John and Ruth (Weller) Hlawek. Thomas served in the United States Air Force from 1953 – 1957 during the Korean War; he was awarded a National Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and Republic of Korea’s Ambassador for Peace Medal.

On November 5, 1960, he married Amelia Hernandez in Milwaukee, WI. Thomas was a loving father of four children, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was a member of Holy Family Parish. Thomas was in the trucking business for over 30 years and owned two businesses prior to retirement. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.

He is survived by four children, Thomas (Richelle) Hlawek of Spring Branch, TX, Christina Hernandez of San Antonio, TX, Rob (Brenda) Hlawek of Hebron, MD, and Jim (Dee) Hlawek of Westborough, MA; six grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kullen, Daniel, David, Nathan, and Jordan; two great-grandchildren, Brailyn and Braidyn; brother, James (Matilda) Hlawek; sister, Mereth (Fred) Kipp; five sisters-in-law, Beatrice (Lee) Schauer, Josephine Gitto, Rosemary Hernandez, Virginia Reinardy, and Dolores Stack; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Amelia; brother, Robert (Elaine) Hlawek; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Alphonso (Gloria) Hernandez, Mary (Harold) Zupke, Esperansa (Richard) Westphal, Richard (Judith) Hernandez, Tony Hernandez, Thomas Gitto, Dr. Michael Reinardy, and John Stack; two nephews, Christopher Hernandez and Bruce Zupke; and a niece, Nancy Westphal.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac, WI, 54937. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow the service at Calvary Cemetery.
