Viola Josephine Bolz
Viola Josephine Bolz, age 94, of Chilton, died on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Century Ridge in Chilton. She was born in Fond du Lac, daughter of the late John & Agnes (Krebsbach) Nett.
She graduated from St. Mary Catholic School in 1936 and worked on the family farm until they moved to Chilton in 1948. It was early in her life on the farm that Viola learned the importance of a good work ethic which she carried throughout her entire life. Upon moving to Chilton, she worked for Bunion Manufacturing where she made picture frames for several years.
She married Alois Frank Bolz on August 8, 1951at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton and she devoted the rest of her life to the care of her husband and their children. This was her true calling in life and loved to have this purpose to serve those she loved the most.
Throughout her life, she tended to a large garden where she was able to produce an abundance of vegetables and fruits, especially a thriving patch of raspberries. There were many meals enjoyed together using all of the food raised by her very own hand and she was known near and far for her expertise in making homemade sauerkraut and her famous potato dumplings. With a green thumb, Viola was proud of her climbing rose bush against her home where many family photos were captured.
Once her children were grown, Viola didn’t let the grass grow under her feet. She worked at Farm & Home in Chilton for 17 years and in retirement she volunteered with the St. Mary Catholic School lunch program for 10 years and helped with the preparation and serving of funeral meals at church.
She was a proud German woman who looked forward to Sheepshead, listening to Polka music and going dancing with her husband. Above all else, she loved her family and especially cherished her granddaughter Sydney.
Survivors include her children: Barbara Bolz, Mary Bolz, Ric Bolz, Joseph (Dawn) Bolz; a grandchild: Sydney Bolz; a sister: Alice Heimermann; and a special niece: Eileen Birschbach. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Al; sister: Marcella Daun; bothers: Roman & Leander Nett; sister-in-law: Joyce Hauser who helped Viola after Al passed and her brothers-in-law: Sylvester Daun & Ervin Heimermann.
The family would like to thank the staff of Century Ridge for providing such excellent care through the last 12 years. They really made her feel at home and a part of their family. During the last weeks of her life, Calumet County Hospice provided exceptional medical and spiritual care to enable Viola to peacefully come to the end of her life.
