William “Bill” R. Lewis

William “Bill” R. Lewis, 81, of Fond du Lac, died on July 6, 2024 at Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI. He was born October 31, 1942 in Fond du Lac, the son of Royal and Irma (Konen) Lewis.

Bill was in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1964-1970. In his professional career, he co-owned Annen Brake Service and then worked at Mid-States Aluminum for many years until his retirement in 2008. In retirement, he enjoyed interacting with everyone around him, at grocery stores, at restaurants, and he especially loved playing games with family and friends. He focused on the humorous side of life, through good times and bad, and brought levity and smiles to everyone around him.

Bill is survived by his wife of 43 years Karen (Rose) Lewis of Fond du Lac (married November 7, 1980), his two sons Christopher (wife Christa; daughter Braelyn 17, son Ashton 14, daughter Kendall 13) of Fond du Lac, and Jarrod (wife Kathryn; son Myron 18, daughter Ayla 15, son Forrest 13, daughter Eleanor 9) of Austin, Texas. He is further survived by his godsons Kyle Rose (wife Melissa) and Luke Tautges (husband PJ); his brothers Richard (wife Mary), Thomas (partner Maria), and Calvin; step-brother Paul Bredlau (wife Jackie) and step-sisters Juliann Breitzman (husband Joel) and Glenda Mamerow (husband Jim); sister-in-law Julie Lewis and brother-in-law Alan Rose (wife Carol), and many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by father Royal Lewis, mother Irma Bredlau, stepfather William Bredlau, in-laws Myron and Julie Rose, brother David Lewis, and step-sister Marlene Presnell.

SERVICES: The public is invited to Holy Family Catholic Church, 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac, on Thursday, July 11, 2024 for a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11:11 a.m. Friends and family can begin arriving an hour before the service to greet the family. Bill will be laid to rest privately in Calvary Cemetery.
