Officer that shot and killed dog cleared of wrong doing
A Fox Valley police officer has been cleared in the fatal shooting of a dog last month. Police in Fox Crossing say when an officer responded to a loose dog complaint at a park in the village, he saw a rottweiler attacking another dog and its owner. The officer fired his gun at the rottweiler, which was struck and died from its injuries.
The Fox Crossing department found that the officer’s actions were compliant with policies in place and were done to prevent injuries to the other dog and its owner.
Police say that the dog’s owner received multiple citations and warnings, adding that the dog was involved in an attack last year that sent another dog and its owner to the hospital.
