Officer Williams Attends Detective Weilands Funeral

Fond du Lac Police Officer Ryan Williams was among the hundreds of police officers from across the nation that attended Everest Metro Police Detective Jason Weiland’s funeral in Weston last week. Williams was critically wounded when Fond du Lac Police Officer Craig Birkholz was shot and killed during a standoff in March of 2011. He says he knows from experience how a community can rally behind its officers when a life is lost in the line of duty. He says the support during Weiland’s funeral and procession was unbelievable with hundreds of squad cars. He says there wasn’t a dry eye in the house when Weiland’s 10-year-old daughter got up to speak about her father. He says it’s important that the Wausau area community continue to show support for Weiland’s family in the years to come. (Pictured Detective Weiland)
