One dead, one injured in City of Sheboygan standoff

An hours long stand-off between a man in Sheboygan and law enforcement has ended after the man apparently shot himself yesterday.
Just before 10 AM, authorities received a phone call from a contractor working at a house in the 2700 block of south 9th street in Sheboygan, who said something just exploded in his face while he was working on a door at the residence . When first responders arrived, they recognized the wound on has face as coming from a gunshot and not from an explosion.
They removed the man from the area and police moved in to set up a perimeter around the house, thinking the perpetrator was still inside .Officers made multiple attempts to make contact with the individual via phone and loud speaker, but they were unsuccessful in eliciting a response.
After several hours with no response, officers used noise distraction devices and other methods in an attempt to get the individual to communicate with them. Contact was initiated and police tried to negotiate with the man to vacate the residence which he did not.
A search warrant was obtained for police to enter the residence and apprehend the man but as they entered the house, a single gunshot was heard. Utilizing a drone inside the house, police were able to locate the 52-year-old man deceased with a self inflicted gunshot wound.
The man who initially was shot in the incident was transported to an area trauma center by a medical helicopter with what police are calling non life threatening injuries.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
