Hours long armed stand-off in City of Sheboygan Sunday night into Monday morning

City of Sheboygan Police dealt with an hours long standoff with an armed man Sunday night, February 1 and early Monday morning.

The standoff started at 7:30 Sunday night and ended just before 6 a.m. Monday.

Officers were on scene at the McDonald’s parking lot on south Taylor Drive at Washington Avenue where they say a person in a mental health crisis was holed up in a vehicle.

Officers responding to the scene last night stated the man was seen holding a gun to his head.

Law enforcement blocked off the area and started to communicate with the man throughout the night which at times showed promise with the man saying he would give up, but at times the communication would break down with the man saying he would kill himself after a ten minute countdown.

Police issued a statement at 4:30 Monday morning saying due to the incident roads immediately in the area would be shut down, but they have since reopened as the incident came to an end.

No information how it ended was immediately released.
