Oshkosh North High School was evacuated Wednesday, September 23, 2026, after a student was reported to be in possession of a handgun.

School staff notified a School Resource Officer at about 9:20 Wednesday morning that a 16-year-old student may have a weapon.

The officer located the student in a classroom, and a handgun was found in the student’s possession.

No one was injured in the incident.

Police also received information that a second North High School student, a 17-year-old male, may have been involved in an earlier incident connected to the investigation.

Officers searched the school but did not find that student. Police say they are continuing to look for him at off-school locations so they can question him.

North High School students were evacuated and school buses took them to Oshkosh West High School for reunification with their parents.

Police and school officials are reminding students and parents to report safety concerns. They say information provided by a student and parent in this case gave officers an opportunity to act quickly.
