Outdoor fire danger increasing with lack of rain, though rain is around the corner

The recent dry spell is starting to take it’s toll on the potential dangers for outdoor burning in Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin DNR updated their Wisconsin Burn map to include all of southern Wisconsin in a high risk for fire danger. This would include Dodge and Washington Counties, while Green Lake, Marquette and Waushara Counties are in the Moderate parameter. Fond du Lac and Winnebago Counties are still listed as low on the map, but that is likely to change with another day or two of forecasted dry weather.

Relief comes as early as this Thursday as the weather pattern changes, introducing multiple rounds of rain in the long term forecast.
