Packers Cut Sherrod…Activate Tretter
The Green Bay Packers
have activated C/G JC Tretter from injured reserve – designated for
return, released T Derek
Sherrod.
Tretter, the second of
three fourth-round choices by the Packers in the 2013 NFL Draft, missed most of
his rookie year after sustaining an ankle injury during organized team
activities and has sat out the first nine weeks of this season due to a knee
injury he suffered during the preseason.
Sherrod played in 20
regular-season games with one start since being selected by Green Bay in the
first round (32nd overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft. He missed all of the 2012
season and the first half of 2013 due to a broken leg he suffered late in his
rookie year.
The team also signed RB Rajion Neal and LB Joe Thomas to the practice squad and released TE Ike Ariguzo and DE Joe Kruger from the practice squad. The
transactions were announced Monday by Executive Vice President, General Manager
and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson.
Neal and Thomas both
spent the 2014 offseason and training camp with the Packers after originally
signing with
as non-drafted free agents on May 12, 2014. Neal will wear No. 34 for the
Packers while Thomas will wear No. 48.
