Packers Mini-Camp Today
The Green Bay Packers opened up their mandatory mini-camp on Monday. CB Sam Shields was back at practice after signing his free agent tender and Johnny Jolly was also back working with the defense after being suspended the last three seasons for violating the NFL’s substance abuse police. Shields told the media that he had hoped to get a long-term contract but now will work off of the one-year tender and hope to earn a longer deal after the season. Jolly spoke to the media after practice and said that he was great-full that the Packers would take him back after 3 years gone. He says that his only goal right now is to be one of 90 men on the roster and see where it takes him. Alex Green, James Starks, Eddie Lacy and Jonathan Franklin all took reps with the first unit at times during the two hour workout. DuJuan Harris was not at practice today. Mike Neal continued to workout out the linebackers on Monday. Wisconsin Badger head coach Gary Andersen was attending today’s practice as well. The Packers will have another workout on Tuesday and the final day of the mini-camp on Wednesday will be for a team activity. In year’s past Mike McCarthy has taken the team on such outings as bowling or paintball.
