Pair Of Dodge County Crashes Kills One, Seriously Injures Others

A pair of serious crashes in Dodge County Saturday, May 20, 2023 killed at least one person and sent others to area trauma centers via medical helicopters and ambulance.

The first occurred around 8:30 AM on State Highway 151 just south of Waupun.

Police say a vehicle with 4 members of a Fall River family was northbound when it struck the back end of a semi that was disabled on the side of the road.

A 38-year-old front seat passenger was killed, and the driver, a 59-year-old man was seriously injured and taken to UW-Hospital in Madison by UW Med Flight. A 14-year-old female passenger was ejected from the car and sustained serious life threatening injuries. She was taken to Marshfield Medical Center in Beaver Dam, where she was then transported by Flight for Life helicopter to UW-Hospital in Madison. A 9-year-old female sustained minor injuries and was treated at SSM Health Waupun Memorial Hospital.

The semi driver, a 32-year-old man from Oshkosh, was not injured.

The second crash occurred just before 2:30 PM on Jersey Road near Breezy Point Road, about 3 miles north of Beaver Dam.

There, officers say a farm tractor towing a wagon was southbound on Jersey Road when it began to turn left into a farm driveway.

A southbound motorcycle, driven by a 42-year-old man from Markesan, was attempting to pass the farm equipment when it collided with the wagon.

The motorcycle operator sustained serious life threatening injuries and was transported to UW-Hospital in Madison by Flight for Life helicopter.

The motorcycle operator was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The operator of the farm tractor, a 38-year-old male from Waupun, was not injured.
