Parks and Planning department introduces kids summer program to highlight county parks

The Fond du Lac County parks and planning department is introducing a new program for kids this spring and summer that is designed to get them out enjoying the county parks system.

the Junior Park Ranger program will be a hands on program getting kids to do such activities as bike and hike on select trails for 30 minutes, climb the tower at Columbia Park and have a picnic lunch at Roosevelt Park.

In total there are 20 activities. Each activity completed is worth 10 points and prizes are available at two different tiers of acquired points. At 60 points, kids get a Junior Park Ranger keychain and at 120 points they get a Junior Park Ranger T-Shirt. The program will wrap up on September 8th and prizes must be claimed by September 30th.

To redeem the prizes, kids must bring in the checked off activity sheet as well as photo evidence that each activity was done, to the parks and planning department in the City County Government Center.

The department says they will also be rolling out some summer parks events for children in the parks coming up in the next month or so.
