“Person of interest” captured in relation to suspicious Fond du Lac death

Fond du Lac Police have announced they have taken a person into custody in the suspicious death of a woman that occurred two nights ago in the central part of the city.

At about 1:20 PM Wednesday, February 14, 2024, Police named Annaka Trudel of rural Fond du Lac as a person of interest in the death of 33-year-old Ashley Ann Calo of West Bend who was found pulseless in a vehicle crashed in some landscaping bushes on Follett Street just west of Main Street in Fond du Lac around 6:20 PM Tuesday.

The City of Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue transported Calo to SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

While police have not officially released the cause of death, acquaintances of Calo say on social media sites she was stabbed, which goes along with scanner transmissions at the time of the incident that say officers found a knife and blood near where she was found in her car.

A little over two hours after naming Trudel a person of interest, Fond du Lac Police announced she was taken into custody in West Bend. According to court records, the warrant for her arrest was for possession with intent to deliver THC Party to a crime – 2nd offense.

It’s unknown at this time how she is related to the suspicious death incident. An autopsy for Calo is scheduled for today.
