A 44-year-old Fond du Lac man was taken into custody Sunday night, June after an hours long stand-off with police Sunday evening in the City of Fond du Lac..
Around 6:45 PM a report of an altercation where a man pulled a gun on another individual at a Donahue Court address, was called into the Fond du Lac County Communications Center.

According to a witness on scene, the suspect struck the reporting person in the face and when the person attempted to hit the man back, he pulled a hand gun.

The man with the gun then retreated into his apartment and refused to exit the apartment and had two children in the apartment (a 4-year-old and a 5-year-old) that he would not allow to exit.

Officers responded to the apartment building and began evacuating the other three apartments and told neighbors to shelter in place.
Both Found du Lac County and City SWAT teams were called in and officers attempted to negotiate with the man.

Just before 10 PM, police used an explosive breeching device to enter the apartment.

Both children were quickly and safely removed from the apartment. The male suspect resisted officers’ attempts to take him into custody and an Electronic Control Device (TASER) had to be deployed before he could be secured. No injuries were reported.

The suspect was booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail with charges of First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Possession of a Firearm while Intoxicated, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Battery, and Disorderly Conduct.

Besides City and County of Fond du Lac police responding, the Wisconsin State Patrol also assisted with scene management.
