PHOTOS: Sturgeon Spawning on the Wolf River in Shiocton

Hundreds of people gathered throughout the day, Tuesday, April 15, 2024, on the banks of the Wolf River to see sturgeon spawning. The sturgeon spawn annually in the springtime in the Wolf River and its parent, the Fox River, between approximately April 15 and May 5, as they swim upstream from Lake Winnebago. Female sturgeon deposit their eggs only about every four to six years, starting at 20 years old. The fish spawn in the shallows of the Wolf river, as they swim upstream.
