PHOTOS/VIDEO: House fire on 1st Street in Fond du Lac
At about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2026, the Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue and Police Department were sent to a report of a house fire on 1st Street between Park Avenue and Ellis Street.
The following is a press release from the Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue Department,
On Thursday March 5, 2026 at 5:32 p.m. FDLFR was dispatched for smoke coming from the side of the house at 166 E. 1st St. Upon arrival fire crews encountered heavy smoke and fire conditions on the first floor of the multi family residence. The fire was quickly knocked down but not before it caused extensive damage to the home. The home was occupied with one person at the time of the fire and the one person inside was able to escape and was evaluated on scene for smoke inhalation by the paramedics but refused transport to the hospital. No other civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Off-duty crews were called in to provide coverage throughout the city during the incident. Fond du Lac Police assisted with scene management and traffic control. Alliant Energy was called to the scene to secure gas and electric utilities.
